Happy Friday to you! Unfortunately, the current board of commissioners voted to demolish the Holden Beach pier building at the January 28th meeting. Only three commissioners were in attendance and a question regarding whether a quorum was present has been asked. Therefore, a new facebook group has been created to exclusively address the concerns of taxpayers in Holden Beach. We are informing and educating the public on hot topics such as the parking, the pier, pier building, Block Q, summer concert venue, termination of town manager David Hewett, etc. If you want to stay informed on actions taken by the board of commissioners and what you can do to help, please join this group and share with your friends. Our pier petition results and grassroots polling have indicated an overwhelming pro-pier support. However, it's still our opinion that some of the town commissioners are opposed to having the pier and/or pier building repaired and reopened. Based on an outline provided by the town attorney at the last board of commissioners meeting (10/15/24), there are questions related to the legal requirements of the town in relation to the PARTF grant agreement. If their intentions are to remove the pier and/or pier building, return the grant, or sell the property - then we should all have some grave concerns. You can listen to this meeting on the town's YouTube page, which is www.youtube.com/user/townofholdenbeach.
We are having a sunset social on Friday, November 15th from 5-7 pm at the Holden Beach Marina. We encourage you to come ask questions, meet your neighbors, and learn how to get involved with our organization. You can also email your concerns regarding the pier to the commissioners or come to the next BOC meeting on Tuesday, November 19th at 5:00 p.m. Email addresses can be found on the town's website. hbtownhall.com/board-of-commissioners.

We will present the petition results at tomorrow's pier input session at 5 pm. Our submission will include a chart to represent the respective number of Holden Beach property owners, voters, Brunswick County residents, and everyone interested in saving the pier.
