Housing is a human right. We need more spaces for community advance and community share.
The orphanage is an incredible community resource on the south side of Chicago, bringing people things they need that make life worth living
The Orphanage is a one of a kind space for which there is no replacement. In a world lacking in third spaces and spaces for free expression of the arts, community organizing, and mutual aid, it would be a huge tragedy for this eviction to go through. This site is vital to Chicago residents.
The orphanage is a vital space and it has provided a resource to myself, family, and organizations that I hold dear.
We need to protect our few remaining community centers and free art spaces! Drop the Eviction! Long live the Orphanage!
This is a wonderful community center that has been around for so long. It is lead and stewarded by wonderful people that work to support multiply oppressed people and the place deserves to stay even be funded as is.
I want to protect refugees from eviction
The Orphanage is a fantastic collection of organizations and I've been to incredible shows there, made great friends, and overall felt that it makes a measurably good impact on the cultural landscape of Bridgeport. To lose it would be a massive shame and destructive to building community, resulting in a lack of revenue and interest in the entire neighborhood. Allowing The Orphanage to remain at its current lease enriches Bridgeport by bringing in business and interest that would not otherwise be present.
This is a community space that needs to be preserved!
I am a lifelong resident
Because this place has helped so many people in so much need!
Keep community resources and stop selling our neighborhoods to developers
Bridgeport is and should remain an example of a strong Chicago community!
We have a cleaner, safer neighborhood because of these organizations and services.
I want this to stay in my neighborhood
Community Matters and this will take away from a beautiful community, not enrich it
The Orphanage is a vital resource for its local community and all of Chicago. There are few other spaces that provide what it does. Losing it would be a tragedy.
This is a community space that is providing services to those in need. Because the government does not provide the services it should, we are left to take care of each other. This means prioritizing community spaces over personal gain.
Landmarks and meccas that serve the community should not be destroyed. We don't need more modern buildings. We should focus on preservation. Please keep historical parts of Chicago alive. Please keep things that are relevant. Please stop wasting resources on descruction and creation. Please help Chicago retain some of its character instead of letting it further become an autonomous !@#$! hole.
This place holds unimaginable value to those who deserve a safe space.
I’ve been to many amazing events in this building and it’s been a vital place for lots of people to get on their feet again. Bulldozing it down for what?
Free and pay what you can shows have gotten me into the music scene and allowed me to make connections i never would have. This place is awesome
For the community! The world needs more spaces like this, especially right now
A space like this is important for several reasons and deserves to be preserved. It's clearly important to the community and that should be considered during this entire process.
The preservation of site of cultural and historic importance is necessary for the community
For The !@#$! Community
It is important to the community!
It’s obvious
The organizations that operate from this facility meet crucial needs of their neighbors. Please consider working with these organizations for the betterment of the community- which includes yourself.
Read the room. With the political climate as it is, tearing down a building where people feed, clothe, and care for their neighbors is the last thing needed. Save yourself the headache.
