I have a son that participates and I have helped coach his teams for the past 3 years in the Avenues League. It is ridiculous that fees are even charged and that fees have been raised to this amount. The league is ran completely by volunteers and the majority if not all of the maintenance done on the fields is done by volunteers (other than weekly mowing of grass if that even happens). The fields are filled with animal holes, wasps, and fire ants and after seeing fields in other surrounding cities, the conditions are an embarrassment and certainly should be a free for residents and for a non profit recreation level league.

Our city needs to support families, community interaction and outdoor activities for kids. Taylorsville and Murray are great examples of how these parks should be supported by the municipality. These fees are exorbitant and growing at an unsustainable rate.

Giving kids outlets to build life lessons in accountability and teamwork should be incredibly important to the city. By charging exorbitant fees it takes away the ability to participate for the families who most need it. These facilities should be considered public space much like our parks.

This is inconsistent with rental fees in all other neighboring cities. The rate being changed is what other cities are charging per player for a season for maintenance. I feel this being applied as an hourly rate was an attempt to maintain similar fees, but was done so incorrectly. As a sister league to Salt Lake City that want to support it's growth, this seems unfair to the citizens and will drive them to travel far to play in other leagues. That's not what we want!
