This is a dangerous intersection-not only are people ignoring the yield sign, they are speeding. You could put in a speed camera and generate revenue additionally putting in a series of speed bumps might help. I’ve lived in the area for 30 plus years and that area is a nigjtmare

I am concerned about my safety when driving into and out of my neighborhood. The current signage is inadequate and drivers unfamiliar with neighborhood traffic patterns persistently speed downhill.

The Shirlington circle is honestly a death trap. I am one who frequents the circle to get home and I often find myself praying I’ll make it home alive. People speeding down Quaker, without yielding to circle traffic. It’s absolutely crazy. I feel a stop sign could help or maybe multiple flashing lights, rumble strips, something more than two yield signs that nobody pays attention to.

This is important to me because I am often near death trying to navigate this traffic circle. People do NOT YIELD. Even a police officer was hit once.

The 395 traffic circle overpass that is adjacent to Gunston Rd is a traffic and safety hazard. I routinely witness cars speeding up and ignoring the yield sign as they prepare to enter the 395 highway ramp, presenting a hazard to cars in the traffic circle, especially those exiting onto Gunston Rd with a narrow lane merging into Quaker Lane where oncoming cars are failing to yield. There are regular accidents here and it seems it could be avoided or at least improved with new signage such as a stop sign or a change in traffic pattern. Please review the traffic pattern; we would appreciate anything you can do to improve the neighborhood!

I live in Park Fairfax, and I regularly feel like A fighter pilot in a combat simulator when I’m driving into my neighborhood. The issue is that traffic entering the circle on Quaker Lane is not yielding to those already in the circle. The current signage at that intersection tells drivers that they must yield to cars already in the circle. But I’ve had literal arguments with other drivers who interpret that sign as meaning they don’t have to yield to anyone if they drive straight from Quaker Lane to the 395 northbound entrance. I would be happy to settle for a more clear yield sign (Stripped of all the current confusing verbiage.) Or even a yield sign with flashing orange lights. I suspect it’s going to take a stop sign to fix this problem, but anything to clear up that traffic issue would help greatly.

I am regularly at risk in trying to turn off Shirlington Circle onto Gunston Road from cars speeding down Quaker Lane to access 395.. The current yield sigh does not slow traffic enough for me to merge safely with the oncoming vehicles and then slow enough to safely turn right onto Gunston.. (I live on Gunston Rd. But for safety I currently go out of my way to the light at Preston to safely turn into Parkfairfax. Accessing the Shirlington circle to cross 395 to Shirlington is equally dicey. The switch of northbound Quaker
lane to one way for cars approaching
Shirlington Circle from the south on Quaker gives drivers the impression that they are safely on a protected access r ramp when they are not. Meanwhile those of us trying to cross the stream of traffic to get to Shirlington are confronted by a steady stream of traffic going at 25 or 35 mph with little or no idea that they are in a traffic circle. The yield sign does not slow them down.

Something needs to be done to slow drivers coming from North Quaker Lane. It feels like you're getting onto 395, when in fact you're still in a residential setting and just getting onto Shirlington circle. It is very unsafe for drivers who are trying to turn right onto Gunston Drive. I feel like because the area is in between Arlington and Alexandria counties, it doesn't get the police support it should.

I’ve almost had my vehicle hit several times by people not yielding at all when I am trying in vain to cross Quaker to get to Gunston to go home. It’s also a struggle when people ignore that they are in a right turn only lane and block the entrance into Parkfairfax off Quaker turning onto Preston . These are are two main entrances and we are at the mercy of citizens obeying traffic signs to keep us safe ( and they do not care )

I’m constantly afraid of getting hit on the right side of my car where my daughter sits because cars ignore the yield sign and blast through

The situation is getting out of hand. Many changes need to be made in the Parkfairfax neighborhood. We have become a cut through for many and the people using our neighborhood do NOT obey traffic rules! yields, stop signs, speed limits... all just suggestions!

It's freaking dangerous!! Most stressful part of my day is making it alive through the circle of death!!! And the other side of shirlington circle - also very scary. Sometimes we watch from the pedestrian bridge the shitshow of near death experiences and near accidents of the driving buffoons.

It is extremely dangerous trying to merge into my street when most of the traffic ignores the current yield sign. Most of the time, it sends me right back around shirlington circle because its not possible.
