I have family that are in your schools. I don't see it is needed.

It should be up to each individual teacher if students are allowed phones in their class. Teachers, coaches uses the apps to keep the students up to date to school work, schedule changes, etc. I definitely do not agree with the school taking the phone from them for 5 days.

I believe that kids have right to have in case of emergency like perhaps school shootings

It is important to me to at least have my phone on me for a few reasons. Emergency contact, and privacy reasons.
