Urge owner to nominate Carter Country Club to The NH State Register of Historic Places

It’s a great spot to go after work or to get beginners and friends out to enjoy the game

I love carters, I don’t want it turned into residencies, shopping, and restaurants. Plenty of other space to do that.

Carter is instrumental in connecting average golfers and friends to the love of the game and the community aspect that comes with smaller, less intimidating golf experiences for those of all ages. It serves as a great place to grow the game, to learn at all ages, and to offer a golfing experience that will keep people coming back for more.

The golf course is a valuable and historic public asset! Its closure would be a loss for the community.

The course’s history and owner’s intention are enough to keep the course open! For all who are passionate about the game, Carter offers us the opportunity to play an affordable course.

This is a historic course that is utilized by me and several friends. The people of the upper valley have enjoyed this course for a long time and should continue to be able to do so

I have fond memories of meeting my parents after their round of golf just to sit and visit with others. I attended some of the dances they had there and enjoyed the events. I can almost guarantee that those who ousted Jim Vanier and those who want to destroy the CCC are not Lebanon residents but out of towners who are chasing the almighty dollar.

This is what the land was intended for!

My Dad, Sterling Melendy, played Carter for years and loved having a 9 hole course here in Lebanon. My Mom, Barbara Melendy, my brothers and I also played it many times. To have a small golf course accessible to everyone in the heart of our community is a treasure!

I feel that not only is it an icon of the area but that many of our older local golfers use this course so they do not have to travel. I also do not believe that any housing built there would be in what the average person in this area would call affordable. Nor do I believe we need a 300 seat restaurant. There are other options and places that are currently unoccupied that should be considered by this developer first.

Grew up next to the golf course. Was used by high schoolers for golf league.

Youth and other local people need to be able to learn and enjoy the game of golf.

I've lived in the Upper Valley my entire life and my family/friends have been coming to this golf course for years.

The history of the upper valley is important to me because I want my son to enjoy what we have been able to enjoy.
Most of the development happening in this area is making the cost of living unaffordable for many residents, and I believe the proposed plan for this property will only continue to make the cost of living more unaffordable.

The history is important to keep around once it's gone it will never be back. I am a avid golfer and love playing this course!

I’d hate to see a piece of old Lebanon destroyed for the sake of expensive housing developments

They’re are plenty of place for affordable housing to be developed. The infrastructure in this area do not support it, and Carter was designed by one of the best course designers in American History, it should be preserved.

I’ve golfed there over 1000 days.

This wonderful golf course, Carter Country Club, CCC, in Lebanon nh has been around since before I was born. From kids playing basketball at the CCB to lessons at Carter Country Club, later playing golf with friends and family members. My grandson, 3 brothers-in-law, nephews, cousins, and husband all have had memberships here and others in the upper Valley as well. As adults, these same kids have been playing with peers from school to adulthood. There are many men and women, over the ages between 70 and 90 years old. Many who continue playing, as soon as the snow disappears and they come back from the warmer climates . Carter was a night spot to dine and dance as well. Previous owner, Mr Goodwin, was the backbone of this facility who had a stipulation that before he sold the property, the CCC would still be able to exist.

Carter Country Club is an iconic community organization and structure that contributes to Lebanon’s unique character and history. If we don’t protect and preserve the elements that make places special, they all become the same. Do the right thing, Lebanon.

I grew up in Lebanon and Carter Country Club was a wonderful place to be, whether at a function or playing golf. I learned to play golf at Carter and always felt comfortable. I met a lot of good friends and made a lot of people and made friends playing at Carter.

I grew up in Lebanon NH. The Carter Center was a staple and important to so many. In a world that’s ever changing, reminders of the past keep us grounded & able to share memories with future generations.

Carter gold club is an indelible part of the city of Lebanon. The high school golf team using it for practices and competes against other schools there. People learned to golf there and still golf there. Other places have lost their golf courses such as Hanover. We need to preserve ours. Not only for ourselves but for the wildlife that live there and in neighbors abutting the golf course. Families have Cross country skied there and sledded there. Carter golf club is truly a part of the heart of the City of Lebanon.

I grew up at Carter Country club learning to play golf at the age of 5 with Harold Webb. Playing every day during the summer months with friendly competitions and great memories until I went off to college. Now I take my own kids there to learn to play the game.
