It is an incredible legacy. It is a gem of a design by Donald Ross. Peeny Godwin Deed wanted this type of preservation.
CCC is a Lebanon landmark and should be preserved. Several generations of my family golfed there like many many families in the area. Many events were held at the CCC including my wedding reception. Lebanon does not need what is being proposed, so if preservation of their area serves to limit the development proposal to something more appropriate, so be it.
I believe in protecting relevant historical sites.
Historical landmark
I love this golf course and it’s history
It would be a huge loss to the City of Lebanon and the citizens as well.
It is important to honor the wishes of the prior owner. My family likes to golf. We lived a block up from CCC for 8 years - a wonderful place! It is even more important to have an affordable local option since Dartmouth closed the course.
Because it is a Valued landmark of an endowment that should be respected. It is so wrong on many levels to disregard Mr. Goodwins
Gift to Lebanon
I spent many hours at Carter Country Club with my family and playing in a Lady's League. It's a beautiful building and a fun course.
Born and raised in West Lebanon, and gone to Carter Country club for different golf event
I love playing golf at Carter but most of all these recent land developments are slowly eating away at what Lebanon, nh use to be. We do not need another development taking away a valuable place for young and old to be outside and enjoying something they love. We need Carter, we don't need more over priced housing in a Market already full of it.
History
Kids can afford to play golf here
Born and raised in the city of Lebanon and it would be a shame to see the country club gone.
My Grandfather has immense history here!!
It's History
I grew up in leb learned to play golf at the ccc with my uncles and cousins it had been part of Lebanon for as long as I can remember and should stay that way
The owner of the golf course wanted the community to always have use of it even after his death
The golf course should remain a golf course in perpetuity as Peanie Goodwin wrote in the deed
The building and land is a piece of history for Lebanon and should remain this way.
Because this has been a vital part of Lebanon NH.
The Carter Country Club has been part of the Lebanon community for since the 1920’s. In my opinion it should be preserved as such so the future golfers can enjoy its famous 9th hole like those who have in the past.
This Golf Course is a community gem.
To keep an important part of our local history alive.
I grew up in Lebanon and know the significance of the Carter Country Club to the area, both historically and currently.
If there was an agreement for the CCC to remain a golf course, then that agreement should be honored.
I grew up in Lebanon and have fond memories of sledding and X-C skiing on the golf course during the winter. I have seen a lot of open-space being developed in town as I still have a lot of family there, and I think it's important for the building and associated landscape to be preserved.
I’m assuming this is the only way for the intended purpose of what Mr Goodwin wanted.
Only golf course left in the upper valley within 30 minutes. Other than that you are taking your money outside the community that has valued Carter Country Club for decades
Carter is one of the remaining pieces of entertainment for adults and kids alike. There is no need for more retail when we cant fill the retail space we have available today.
My father, Edmond (Peanie) Goodwin, clearly intended this property to remain a golf course to benefit the citizens of Lebanon,
