Die petisie is gerig aan: City of Arcata, CA
This petition is a formal request, by and for the dog walking residents of Sunset and beyond. Those who traverse our streets and find themselves in need of dog poop bags and disposal options.
We propose that a dog bag dispenser and city bin be installed at Ross & Grant Streets to replace the one maintained by the folks that live at that corner.

While some dog owners in the Sunset neighborhood know there are dog poop dispensers at the skate park and Larsen Park not everyone ventures in those directions, or even knows they exist. Many dog owners are not keen on bringing their dog into the busy recreational park, near a playground with no enclosure for dogs, or near the skateboards at the skate park, with warranted reasons. Some dogs just don't do well in those environments. And some owners are just out for a quick daily stroll.
The dog walking traffic has tripled on Grant Street (between Ross & Jay) since it was designated as a pedestrian only path. There is currently a bag dispenser and bucket available but this system is maintained by the residents of that property, and it's obvious it has made a huge impact as that bucket is FULL every week. Thanks to all those amazing, mindful neighbors!
This location is right next to an elementary school on a bustling path that sees dogs and their people regularly. A properly maintained option would do the neighborhood good.

This petition is important to me because I walk my dog here all the time and I don’t think it’s unfair that the city doesn’t have a poop station here. Its a highly trafficked dog walking area
