Petition is addressed to: Ecsu Student Affairs Administration

To Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs ,Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership,

We, the student body of Elizabeth City State University, are tired. We are tired of being ignored. We are tired of the lack of student events and the decline of the student experience. We are tired of Greek organizations being treated unjustly at the hands of SEAL. We are tired of leadership that does not prioritize the needs of the students it serves.

We demand an immediate explanation and accountability from your offices. As paying students, we deserve a leadership that not only holds the title but actively works for the students, by the students. This is not a request ,it is a demand for action.

Furthermore, the fear of retaliation for speaking out is unacceptable. No student should feel silenced at an institution that claims to champion student engagement and success. Let it be clear: we know our Student Rights, and we will exercise them if necessary.

It is time for transparency. It is time for real solutions. It is time for change. We expect a direct response and a plan of action immediately.

Reason

HBCUs across the country are already under attack from funding disparities to systemic challenges that threaten our institutions. But what happens when the attack isn’t just external, but comes from within?

At Elizabeth City State University, We the student body, are facing neglect and unjust treatment from the very offices that are supposed to advocate for us. Instead of fostering a thriving student experience, we are witnessing:
• A lack of student events that diminish campus life and engagement.
• Unfair treatment of Greek organizations, which are pillars of leadership, community service, and culture on this campus.
• A disconnect between student needs and administrative action, leaving us unheard and unrepresented.
• Fear of retaliation for speaking out, which silences students who simply want to improve their university.

We attend an HBCU, a space that should uplift, empower, and protect its students. Yet, we find ourselves fighting against our own institution for the experience we deserve. How can we take pride in our school if our school does not take pride in us?

This petition is not just about students not being happy or just wanting to complain .Its about respect, accountability, and the future of our university. If student voices continue to be ignored, we risk losing the very culture and spirit that make HBCUs like ECSU unique and powerful.

Thank you for your support, Kaleb Jackson , Elizabeth City
