Petition is addressed to: Utah state gouvernment
Lower the crime rate for those individuals aged 21 and older in possession of cannabis. Recreational cannabis would be taxed higher than medicinal cannabis which would increase revenue for the state. This additional revenue could be used for infrastructure improvements and public services.
Reason
With strict regulations, cannabis can be obtained both recreationally and medicinally. We currently allow tobacco and alcohol products to be used recreationally with little restrictions. When compared with alcohol and tobacco, cannabis products have many medical benefits when used appropriately. Just as alcohol is limited to adults aged 21 and older, cannabis products should be treated with the same caution and legality. Cannabis users should only consume at home and away from minors. They shouldn’t operate any heavy equipment or vehicles after consumption. Cannabis products should be safely stored out of access to minors and those that are not allowed to be in contact with it. Recreational cannabis is not intended for everyone but those who will follow the law that states when where and how an individual can consume cannabis.
