Petition addressed to: Department of Trasportation

Request for Traffic Safety Improvements on Reeve Place.

Dear Community Board 7,

We, the undersigned residents of Reeve Place, respectfully request the installation of speed bumps and the designation of Reeve Place as a one-way street.

Our request is driven by the increasing volume of high-speed, heavy-truck traffic on our narrow residential street. Reeve Place is frequently used as a shortcut to bypass traffic lights on Greenwood Avenue and cut in front of cars turning onto Prospect Park West South from Vanderbilt Street, creating unsafe traffic congestion conditions for motorists, pedestrians, children, and cyclists alike who are turning onto Reeve Place from PPWS. These conditions pose a significant safety risk and negatively impact the quality of life in our neighborhood. We believe that implementing speed bumps and one-way traffic restrictions would effectively mitigate these hazards and enhance safety for all who live, walk, and travel in the area.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We kindly ask that the Board consider our petition and take appropriate action at the earliest opportunity. We are available to provide additional information or discuss this request further.

Sincerely,
Zulema Mejias & Vivian Jackson

Why people sign

My family and I live on the street and are often subject to the hazards of narrow two-way traffic.

Our street has become significantly busier over the past few years due to GPS routing during busy hours and overbuilding in the area. We need to make changes for the safety of our neighbors.

This street is much too narrow for a two way and it's impossible to turn onto the street unless there are no cars coming from the opposite direction. It's clearly meant to be a one way street

It is important for safety and congestion.
For example a few nights ago a motorbike was being very loud and drove off very fast down the road went around the block and did it again, very fast. One of the older teenagers who was there even commented on how fast he was going! It could have been fatal if someone had pulled out infront.

Safety for our street. Cars fly down this street at ridiculous speeds!
