Petition addressed to: Arbela Township Board of Trustees and the Arbela Township Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and taxpayers of Arbela Township, formally petition the Arbela Township Board of Trustees and the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) to support Tony's Place (located at 8716 Vassar Road) in allowing property renters to host their private family events on-site.

We ask the Township to work collaboratively with the owners of Tony's Place to establish an clear zoning variance, conditional use permit, or structural framework that explicitly permits private family gatherings, weddings, and milestone celebrations. To fully address local concerns, this framework can incorporate reasonable, self-imposed rules regarding noise control, restricted hours of operation, and strict parking management to ensure nearby properties are completely respected.

Reason

1. Protection of Property Rights: Property owners should have the reasonable right to utilize their land productively. Allowing short-term renters or local families to host intimate gatherings on a beautiful 17-acre property aligns with a balanced use of rural land without disrupting the community.

2. A Safe Space for Local Family Traditions: Our township needs beautiful local spaces where families can gather for private weddings, reunions, and anniversary celebrations. Tony's Place provides a unique, scenic setting that keeps local families celebrating together right here in our community.

3. Complete Commitment to the Neighborhood: This petition does not ask for commercial, unrestricted operation. The property is structurally equipped with spacious acreage and natural borders. The owners are fully prepared to enforce strict rules—including standard evening quiet hours and controlled parking footprints—to preserve the peaceful, rural atmosphere of the surrounding area.

4. Supporting Local Value: Allowing controlled family events brings quiet, positive activity to our town and supports the long-term value of local properties. Settling this land-use interpretation through a mutual compromise prevents unnecessary, expensive legal expenses for both the township taxpayers and local property owners.

Thank you so much for your support, Chad Ross, Millington

Why people sign

We have had parties there and went to parties there and everything went wonderful. The owners are amazing to work with and this is a great place to have in our community

A vaction means nothing without your friends and family! People should be aloud to gather and celebrate any occasion, plane and simple!

It is important to me that reputable business owners in our community have the opportunity to continue operating their businesses responsibly, contributing to the growth, vitality, and overall appeal of our community.

Such a beautiful property, so serene and peaceful. Love every moment I’ve spent at Tony’s Place.

We have stayed at this location many times. It’s managed in a such a professional manner. This is such a bonus for the community! Not to mention the business/monies it brings to all the local businesses.
