Pat Connaughton's style of defense (or lack thereof) has increasingly and consistently contributed to the team's inability to create or maintain a lead with defensive stops. His high-flying style of guarding the perimeter allows shooters to "fake pump" him or simply wait until he jumps all the way into the air over and passed the shooter. Pat's inability to keep up with the fast the paced play of NBA teams that have younger and more athletic players inevitably leaves him following on the hip of players charging to the basket or simply getting overpowered while shooters attack the basket. His stiff offense becomes a liability when he is waiting on the perimeter to shoot a 3-point shot that does not consistently fall in. His lack of movement and spacing on offense leaves him easily boxed out from getting rebounds and second shot opportunities (even when the matchups are optimal). Though respect is given to all National Basketball Association players for their hard work, dedication, and talent, we must make decisions that are best for the players, team, fans, and city of Milwaukee overall. With losing a Defensive Player of The Year (Jrue Holiday), our defense has suffered even more and now is not the time to be passive, but proactive. Let's aim to repeat our 2021 NBA Championship win!
