Petition addressed to: Universal Orlando

We call on Universal Orlando Resort to host an annual or bi-annual "Sensory-Friendly VIP Day." On this designated day, Universal would adjust park operations across select zones or during special buyout hours by lowering background music levels, dimming strobe and flashing lighting effects, disabling artificial scent triggers, and capping park capacity. This would allow autistic individuals, neurodivergent guests, and those with sensory processing sensitivities to enjoy the park's world-class attractions in a safe, accessible, and comfortable environment.

Reason

Overcoming High Barriers to Entry: Standard theme park environments present severe sensory overload—blaring soundscapes, sudden flashing lights, intense smells, and overwhelming crowds—making a visit stressful or entirely impossible for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Beyond Existing Accommodations: While Universal offers great accessibility tools like quiet rooms and the Attraction Assistance Pass (AAP), these resources assist after a guest is already overwhelmed. A dedicated low-sensory environment addresses the root cause of sensory fatigue before it happens.
Magic Bean Travel Co.

Fostering True Inclusion: Universal Orlando has an opportunity to lead the theme park industry in neurodiverse inclusion. Providing an environment tailored to sensory needs ensures that guests who usually miss out can create lasting, joyful memories with their loved ones.

Proven Model for Success: Low-sensory hours have proven successful in museums, theaters, and sports venues worldwide. Adapting this model for a major theme park would set a powerful benchmark for accessible entertainment.

Thank you so much for your support, Marina Heller, Kronshagen

Why people sign

I have special needs cousins, and they should be able to enjoy the parks with out all the people for a day. It's too stressful when they have a ton of people around.

It gives people like me a chance to visit Universal without being completely overwhelmed.

My cousin has 2 special needs children and I fully support him and his children.

I have kids with disabilities and I really think it will help the to enjoy the parks more so we can stay long in them

This petition is extremely important to my family and I. I have a daughter with autism. She has a hard time waiting in lines, has epilepsy, sensory issues, celiac disease, and is developmentally delayed and incontinent. She also has a very limited vocabulary making it difficult for her to communicate her wants and needs which can lead to meltdowns, especially in large crowds. I also have a non-verbal son with cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus in which he has a shunt in his brain. He is severely cognitively delayed and has sensory issues, incontinence, and epilepsy. He also has a hard time waiting in lines not only from a mobility standpoint, but from sensory and cognitive standpoints as well. Offering a low stimulation day and/or hours would be very beneficial for not only them, but for other children and adults with disabilities. This population experiences many struggles in their day to day lives, so it would be great to offer them the opportunity to be able to explore the Universal parks without having to navigate through large crowds and overstimulating environments. Unfortunately, there are many individuals with special needs that are unable to travel if these types of accommodations are not met. Every individual deserves the opportunity to enjoy special moments in their lives and being able to experience Universal's parks would definitely be one of those moments. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
