The original message went against rule 1.4, I had to change the wording to stay in compliance and keep this petition live.
New petition description:
We are calling on Moorpark Unified School District to remove Yalda Jamal from her position as Principal of Walnut Canyon Elementary School and appoint new leadership that prioritizes students, supports teachers, values parent involvement, and fosters a positive school community.
We request that the Superintendent and Board of Education formally review the concerns raisedregarding byschool familiesleadership, communication, transparency, and staff, administrative decision-making, take appropriate action through established district procedures, and implementconsider a leadership transition that restores trust, transparency, accountability, and collaboration.transition.
Our goal is simple: leadership that puts students first, listens to families, supports educators, and rebuildsstrengthens the sense of community at Walnut Canyon.
New justification: As a parent at Walnut Canyon ElementaryElementary, I believe our school deserves leadership that brings families, teachers, and students together, together. I want parents to feel heard, welcomed, and comfortable speaking up about their children’s education.
In my personal experience, communication with school administration has sometimes been frustrating. I’ve had questions that were not leadershipdirectly thatanswered, leavesand parents feeling unheard, frustrated, or afraid to speak up.ConcernsI have beenconcerns raised regarding ongoing communication issues, unanswered parent questions, lack ofabout transparency, administrative decisions, changes to school policiespolicies, and disciplinary procedures, and limited opportunities for meaningful parent and teacher input. For many families, the concern goes beyond individual incidents. It is about the overall direction of our school and the loss of the sense of community that once made Walnut Canyon special.involvement.
PerhapsThrough mostconversations concerningwith isother parents, I’ve learned that some parentsshare aresimilar hesitantconcerns. toSome voicehave theiralso concernsexpressed hesitation about speaking up because they fearworry potentialabout retaliation orpossible negative consequences for their children. NoI parentcannot speak for every family, but I believe these concerns deserve to be heard and taken seriously.
I also believe teachers should have meaningful opportunities to weighshare their professional perspectives on decisions that affect their classrooms and students.
For me, this is about more than individual disagreements. My experiences have affected my confidence in the consequencescurrent ofschool advocating for their child. Our teachersleadership, and staffI workbelieve incrediblya hardchange forin administration could help rebuild trust and strengthen our students.school They deserve leadership that values their experience, respects their voices, and supports them in creating the best possible learning environment.community.
