Protect natural areas and change the ways utility companies manage them.
In the US, we are losing prime, biodiverse native habitats along with birds, butterflies and other wildlife species that depend on it. Spraying kills everything.
I bet I see 1/4 of the insects I saw when I first moved to Kentucky in 2008. I'm currently removing the second third of my yard to plant natives and support pollinator habitat, and encouraging Murray State's Arboretum to remove Asian varieties and plant natives instead.
This is a high ecological value setting. Right-of-way management needs to be done ina way that protects this and other sensitive native plant area.
Many native plant species and the ecosystems in which they reside are under threat due to habitat loss and indiscriminate use of herbicides. Utility rights of way can provide critical space for native habitats; however, utility companies and their contractors need to commit to working with community groups to preserve these habitats.
We have to protect our plant life, especially those that are not bountiful.
I support preserving and nurturing natural areas and oppose abuse and harm to theses natural wonders.
Conservation of native ecosystems benefit us all.
I'm in favor of increasing native plants and not spraying chemicals which may harm the environment.
Native plants impact local biodiversity, pollinator and bird populations. Spraying with poison directly contradicts all of those things.
I believe herbicides are extremely harmful to the environment and should not be used. We need to be good custodians of the environment especially in places like LG&Es empty easements.
Saving native wet lands
These remnants of the once-expansive biologically diverse plant communities that once blanketed the land are so precious, and it's absolutely heartwrenching that such damaging negligence was allowed to occur under LG&E's watch. Powerline corridors play a unique role in native plant conservation: the need for excluding woody growth mimicing in some ways the historic effects of fire and bison on the landscape. But the irresponsible and undiscerning use of herbicides negates all that. Please take responsibility for working with plant conservationists, and state agencies where appropriate, to ensure this and other diverse plant communities on land managed by LG&E are held safe and nurtured in the future! It's the right thing to do, and could also be some much-needed positive PR.

The meadow needs to be protected.
Native habitats are dying off. There is no reason a healthy meadow and a utility company cannot coexist without the spraying of poison and destruction of important, foundational wildlife habitat.
Because I care
I value, native habitat and natural spaces. I think it’s especially important to preserve unusual spaces. I follow sources that help to identify Indiana birds and native plants. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.😢
Because we need to save biodiversity. It is the most important thing for us in all aspects of life
Chelsea Meadows is a unique place that provides habitat for rare and beautiful plants. It should be treated like the natural treasure it is.
This is a very sensitive and special habitat. It should be managed correctly
We can’t keep kicking the can when it comes to the environment.
To.preserve original meadow biodiversity
We have been to this meadow before it was damaged. We value wildflowers and nature diversity
Preservation of our nature preserves us very important to myself and future generations.
Preserving/restoring prairie landscape is quintessential to sequestering carbon, as well as promoting necessary biodiversity
Native prairies support our entire ecological system. Wildlife needs designated places to reproduce and flourish!
Indiana has so much natural beauty but is also so cavalier about throwing it aside or risking it for the ease and profit of a handful of residents. We need to be mindful of the gifts we steward here. We owe it to our children and their children.
Meadow restoration is key to the health of our planet and all who inhabit it!
I live states away but I believe that protecting native meadows in as many places as possible is vital to the biodiversity and climate resilience everywhere in the US.
We must preserve our land as much as possible
