I love my beautiful mountain community & its historic western reputation. The El Rancho building, which is iconic to the west and its extraordinary views, should not be wasted.The proposed plans for this site ignore the many decades of nationwide historical reputation & destroy the historical significance of the site. They diminish the unique beauty of the area in exchange for proposed services that are not needed and which are not consistent with the buildings and services offered in the contiguous areas. Plus, these proposed services are redundant to this general part of the foothills. A truck & auto Plaza is not the interstate entrance to beautiful Bergen Park & Evergreen that is consistent with our history, current usage, and quaint mountain ambiance. Destroying a beautiful, one of a kind, beloved, historical western site to build a not needed, redundant, not beautiful automotive site should not be allowed. Too many historical western tourist sites have been demolished. Our long standing western heritage is being traded for unsure, short term profits. Once El Rancho is gone, another piece of our romantic western heritage will be gone forever.
