In addition to all the reasons listed, I am concerned about the increased fire danger, emergency egress and access difficulties and safety issues that will result from the proposed ElRancho QuikTrip.
Not a good location, too much traffic, already a fuel stop
QuikTrip would not be a good investment for the PEOPLE of the Evergreen Community. And a truck stop in this location is unnecessary.
Loss of historic landmark and traffic congestion
El Rancho has been part of the Evergreen area for over 4 generations of my family.
Because no one listens to what the local residents really want
Does not fit in Evergreen environment
The entrance to Evergreen should not be a truck stop. Better planning would create an inviting stop -- more like the current El Rancho or a newer better vesion of comfort food on the way home.
Negative and dangerous impacts of this development far outweigh any positive. The historical site should not be developed in this way.
Increased: Traffic Congestion; Crime; Fire Risk!
Negative impacts far outweigh the positive
HISTORICALLY significant building s/n/b destroyed!
I do not want el rancho to be converted to quick trip.
We don’t need a quick trip in evergreen. It will impact the small local businesses and add competition to a very small town. We are fine as we are.
I remember El Rancho as a destination when we lived in Missouri and came here in vacations. My family moved to Colorado when I was in HS….loved coming here…moved to Evergreen in 2002. This site needs preserved as a landmark!
The I70 corridor is already too congested and commercial. Sacrifice of another historic property to congestion and commerce is not the answer.
QuikTrip would be an ugly atrocity, and terrible source of light pollution
Overcrowding and traffic that cannot handle this amount in an unincorporated town
It is not necessary to have a Truck Stop at this location. It will be a traffic jam and an unsightly arraignment.
Lived near El Rancho for 32 years. I’d like to maintain the historic value of El Rancho to the Evergreen community.
We have enjoyed the restaurants and events at El rancho for many, many years.
We do NOT want nor NEED a truck stop at that beautiful location!!!
I live across the road and am worried about the crime and mischief this could bring to our little community. This will not benefit the people of Evergreen. There is already a gas station and other stores in this location, it is not needed.
We don’t need another Gas station/Convenience store in Evergreen.
As a 45 year resident of this community, I’d like to preserve the historic restaurant in its existing form and site and explore other options for its application.
It is not what Evergreen is about. It is a small quiet mountain town. The traffic from people getting off of I25 to avoid traffic bad enough already. We live on Floyd hill and it takes forever to get home some days due to traffic and only having one access to get to our house. All eastbound traffic from this gas station would be routed down the hill to re-enter I-70, and many people would take Hwy 40 to save 1 min via google maps. People whom have paid a lot of money to own a home in this are did so to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. DO NOT bring the city here!! What’s next, a Capital One high-rise building in downtown Evergreen??!!
Evergreen is a small unincorporated town that does not need a MASSIVE truckstop off I70 where another gas station already exists. We don’t need the extra traffic or the additional wear and tear on our roads.
The initial grading before this project is even approved will destroy the beauty of our neighborhood, eliminate bird & wildlife habitat, decrease property values & increase traffic & possibly increase crime & human trafficking.
Keep mountain towns quaint safe and local
There is a lot of history at El Rancho not to mention the beautiful old building. Wild, Wild West days. Replacing El Rancho with a truck stop is a step down. Evergreen is better than that.
We don’t need a giant gas station complex in that area when there is another gas station on the other side of that intersection.
For the reasons stated in the petition! Irreparable losses of cultural heritage, scenic value, and community character, as well as the direct impacts of light, noise, and traffic associated with this proposed project would be borne by the Evergreen community forever.
Additionally:
Truck stops are notorious for attracting crime and criminals.
The traffic would increase exponentially and there is already a lot of traffic due to the existing businesses in the area.
And, there is already a gas station across the street from the proposed QwikTrip and an existing 85 room hotel!
This is about a sleezy, money grabbing developer who doesn’t care anything about the Evergreen community.
