I use Waterwagon virtually every day. I see people walking their dogs, kids riding bikes, and runners on this road. There are also extremely deep ditches and an odd curve on this road that make it particularly dangerous in bad weather. The turns off of this road at either end can also be tricky requiring drivers to be especially careful. A 40-mph speed limit for this short connecting road makes a lot of sense!
Cars using Waterwagon Rd travel too fast making it unsafe for children, pets and pedestrians.
Agreed on safety for families and neighbors.
Safety. The road is used as a go between 2 highly traveled roads and people drive way too fast on this road. There are no shoulders for people who are walking and want to get out of the way of oncoming traffic.
Because safety comes first. It is not safe to be driving at the speed of 55 down this short stretch of road. It is a residential area.
The petitioner summarized the issues nicely. The current speed limit makes no sense especially in light of the lower limits on the roads to which it connects. I used to run on Water Wagon but the lack of shoulders and cars flying by at 55 mph made it wildly unsafe.
I just bought a house off of Water Wagon Rd and want a safe speed limit posted.
People drive way to fast on Waterwagon and there are lots of kids and pets so we need them to go slower.
Cars use this road as a shortcut, many times at high speed. And there are no shoulders for walkers/runners/bikers.
Adding a speed limit to our road is a matter of urgent public safety—drivers routinely exceed safe speeds, putting lives at risk every day. Without immediate action, it’s only a matter of time before a preventable tragedy occurs.

I live in the area and see cars going way too fast up the road.
People fly up that road, especially as kids are getting on and off the bus
The speed limit on adjacent roads is 45mph. This should be consistent and marked on this busy thoroughfare. Pedestrian safety is important to the community.
Agree that Waterwagon Rd speed limit should be the same as adjacent residential roads and should certainly not exceed speed limits of main roads N Triphammer and East Shore Drive on either end of Waterwagon.
I am a nearby resident and travel this road regularly
I work in Lansing and care about community safety
I live off this road and it is dangerous.
I live in the community and used to live on Waterwagon. I am personally familiar with the problem.
People speed on waterwagon a the time. I have seen multiple cars in deep ditches along the road.
Cars have no idea what the speed limit is on water wagon rd. They often go above 50mph.
I feel vehicles travel to fast on this road and shoulders are not wide enough for pedestrians. Ditches are also very deep.
I leave off of Watermelon- it’s dangerous
I live in Waterwagon. I have children that cross the road to ride bikes. A dog we walk and a spouse as well as neighbors that walk down to the bus stop at the end of Waterwagon. There is NO SIDEWALK AND BARELY A CURB for anyone to walk safely on. Waterwagon is a residential through street that connects 2 major thoroughfares, Triphammer and East Shore. Drivers seem to use Waterwagon as a means to speed through from one street to the other. A speed limit as well as widening the shoulder of Waterwagon road would make our street a much safer place. Thank you.
