Spring creek and Lamoille canyon should remain small. Not commercial. Our water is precious in Nevada. Our mountains are serene as they are.
We do not need more traffic to complicate our already complicated busy summit on top of emergency response. We also already have water restrictions which would make things even worse all around. Please don't sell us out for more issues, and traffic we just don't need or want.
Over development of Spring Creek seriously degrades the quality of life here. Traffic is already onerous and water costs very high.
I want to see the Rubies as they are, natural and beautiful. A ski resort would ruin the area. Nevada doesn't need the revenue; they have Vegas!
We live in this area and are concerned about new problems with traffic and resource use in this fragile, remote rural community known for its wilderness and undisturbed beauty. There is only one way in and out.
The serene environment of our community is of extreme importance. Not too many places in our country remain untouched by large developments seeking to turn an enormous profit from development of commercial resorts and the disruption of nature. Opening this door will lead to further commercialization of our community that already struggles with traffic and water. There is only one way in and out of Spring Creek and transient traffic will only further complicate the current unsolved problems.
We moved to Spring Creek to be away from large businesses, enjoy living in a rural community and do not want the traffic, displacement of wildlife, or water availability to affect those goals. Additionally, parcels were all expected to be for ranching or private purposes: planned as such. There is no reason to add the resort. The developer said he would not proceed if he had opposition - he should honor his word. The residents do not want this.
Putting in a resort of this nature would totally disrupt the lifestyle of the residents of this area and stretch resources very thin. We live in an area that has been combating drought for many years. This sort of development would further negatively impact our area. The wildlife that we enjoy in the Ruby mountains would also be negatively impacted. Those of us that have chosen to live in this rural area would not be here if we wanted to live in a city like the areas near other resorts that have even caused residents to have to sell due to the higher taxes.
Stop building in our open spaces
I wanted to support this petition because here in the USA my neighborhood is dealing with the same kind of issue. Every signature helps.
We do not want increased traffic, pollution, houses, or other development which ruins quality of life. Water and septic is also an issue for those of us who have private wells.
Lets keep the Rubies the way it is,
We don't have enough water available now. There is no way a new large housing development should be approved close to the Rubies which would affect water, roads, traffic, taxes, and our way of life.
Turning spring creek into a ski resort town will increese prices and property tax. This is something that will have a negative effect on our existing residence and will make life harder for our community.
The soil in the area doesn’t support septic. Interferes with the wildlife. I don’t think there would be enough snow to support the ski resort. I just think it’s a bad idea.
This is a horrible idea due to not only traffic concerns but also it will be detrimental to the views of the mountains that people come for
To preserve habitat and local culture.
I moved here to enjoy the small town rural feel. We lack the infrastructure to support such a large amount of recreation and homes this zone change would bring. As an HOA member we pay for the roads that would be needed to access additional recreation and homes. Additionally the current summit is not sufficient to allow a larger amount of traffic in and out of this area.
Preserving the beauty of the Ruby Mountains, water, light pollution, lack of egress in case of emergency.
Because I am concerned about the impact on nature and the loss of our aesthtic beauty of our community.
Road access and upkeep
Water issue
Protect open spaces
For all the reasons previously mentioned! We moved to this SPECIFIC part of Spring Creek ( from a large major city) to avoid the congestion of too many people and enjoy the open spaces and beauty around us.. Bringing in more people and houses will strain the existing area and destroy the quiet beauty we love. The peacuful evenings and nights will be greatly inhibited by adding much more lighting, more car noise and more disturbance to the natural environment.
The Ruby Mountains are wilderness. We don’t need paths cut for ski runs, ski lifts and large numbers of tourists in them - it would destroy the beauty and serenity forever.
Water issue is one reason but there are so many reasons I am signing this petition in opposition to the development.
I don’t want a ski resort in the Ruby Mountains.
not enough water and I want to preserve the integrity of the area.
Nature must be saved for the future. I live in ski country. Love it! The slopes and lifts and lodges with parking lots etc, etc, scar the environment, physically as well as visually. Protect the Rubies Dont Abuse them
As a Spring Creek resident for more than four decades, I am concerned about the impact this proposal will have on the quality of life for long-term residents. Specific concerns include a lack of existing infrastructure to handle increased traffic and water needs, increased wear and tear on existing roads, growing traffic noise and congestion, especially on the Lamoille Highway and around schools, added stresses to the local groundwater table in the form of extraction and contamination, loss of wildlife habitat, a decrease in air quality during inversions, and potential for increases in noxious weed infestations, roadside litter and fire starts.
We are on a well and a development will draw the water table down. Causing wells to be drilled deeper.
