Eastside Student Center Fills A Gap Of A Safe, Supportive, Non-School Environment For Students. Why Force Us To Close When We Have Performed And Add So Much Value To The Community?
Reason
For years, the Eastside Student Center has been a trusted and flexible partner to the District, consistently adapting to the changing needs of students and families while working within the financial and operational constraints provided by the District. ESC has built strong relationships with students, families, and community partners, and has become an important source of consistency, mentorship, and support for many children in our community.
ESC provides a program that reflects both the intent and spirit of the ELO-P program and was designed to provide students with enriching, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experiences that support their academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being but do replicate school day activities.
ESC’s program offers students something uniquely valuable: a safe and supportive environment outside of the traditional school setting where students can build confidence, relationships, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging. For many families, this program is a vital source of mentorship, enrichment, stability, and community connection.
We are concerned about the impact that losing this longstanding partnership could have on students, families, staffing continuity, and the quality of services available to our community, especially with such a short transition timeline before the next program year begins.

As a single mom after school care is already a struggle but with the easy side student center being available for my 5th grader I can finish my work day knowing she is in a well maintained environment and safe place for her. Not only does she get homework help but she has made strong connections with new friends and grew closer with friends she already had. East side student center being taken away not just adds stress on me as a parent not having after school care but it also rips my daughters safety away. She is surrounded by positive individuals who care about her needs and wellbeing all while making sure she is being responsible. It would be a huge loss for our children and parents if east side student center was take away
