The people of the United States stand with Greenland, and with Denmark and Europe, against the military and economic threats by President Trump to take over Greenland.
Razones.
For 80 years, the United States and Europe have joined together as a diplomatic alliance. The United States threat of a military invasion of Greenland and tariffs on European countries is a grotesque affront to our partnership, a threat to peace and security, and a colonial ambition that flies in the face of democracy, multilateralism, and international law.
The third Monday of January (the day this petition is being written) is a national holiday in the United States that honors the life and legacy of the civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Dr. King's words ring as true today as they did when he was organizing for equal rights: "I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states... Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly."
Our destinies are interconnected, and we will continue to work for a United States foreign policy that respects your independence.

As an American citizen and retired U.S. military veteran, I am deeply ashamed of the failure of the vast majority of our members of Congress to speak out strongly against the military and economic threats that have been made, especially "towards the people of Greenland." Hats off to you for providing your fellow Americans with such a well-written and non-partisan way of letting our country's allies around the world (especially Greenlanders) know that we stand with them in supporting their fundamental right as citizens in democracies to determine their own futures. Well done, and please don't let the small number of signatures acquired thus far discourage you from creating more e-petitions in the future!
