Petition richtet sich an: North Attleborough Board of Selectmen

Teacher wages in North Attleborough are relatively lower than those in surrounding towns, so if we could increase our teacher wages it would improve the well-being of the community as a whole.

Begründung

As of now, the average salary for a teacher in North Attleborough is 31% lower than the national average. This may not seem as low in comparison to some other states or towns. However, it is very possible that our teacher wages could become even lower relative to the national average in the near future. "North Attleborough is in the bottom 15% of all Massachusetts towns in per pupil spending. In North Attleborough, the amount of money spent per student is $16, 951.87, whereas in nearby towns like Foxboro, Mansfield, and Plainville, the amounts are $21,553, $21,357 and $19,105, respectively" (Bowen). Education is an key aspect in every child's life because it provides the valuable knowledge and experience they need to be able to survive anywhere in any circumstance. And the effectiveness of education very well depends on our educators as well. The better the teacher wages we are able to provide, the more experienced the teachers that the children of our community are interacting with are. Despite the recent establishment of a contract regarding teacher wages and the improvements made to it, it is still relatively low and could be further improved. Additionally, our teachers and school staff are working really hard to provide the education we desire and our students deserve. So it is important that we show our care, support and gratitude to them by working towards an increase in their salary. Our teachers deserve fair wages for their work. Ultimately, the quality of our education, student success, and teacher well-being should be our number one priority.

Warum Menschen unterschreiben

Teachers work hard and a lot of hours more than they need to so they can train the future of the country: the kids!

Teachers deserve higher wages because they help shape future generations by developing students' skills and preparing them for any profession that contributes to society. Truly, being an educator is a public service, and underpaying them reflects a failure to invest not only in them as individuals but our collective future. Teachers have families, responsibilities, and financial commitments, and deserve far more than the barely livable wages many currently receive. With all the requirements they must complete to become a teacher, our educators deserve professional-level compensation that reflects their hard work and effort.

This petition is important to me because it is important for teachers to have livable and necessary wages for the work they do.

It is important to educate

Teacher wages should be more livable.
