Petition addressed to: Salt Lake City Transportation Division

Wanna park near your home? Let’s establish residential permit parking zones.

Reason

The development of the Milk Block and surrounding businesses on 900 S has been a wonderful addition to our community, but it’s becoming harder to park on the street. Many houses on our street don’t have private parking spaces, and backyard parking spaces can be expensive to add or hard to reach.

Zones Considered: **If you do not see your block listed, you can still sign! Please list your block in a comment so we can try to add it**
400 E 700-800 S
400 E 800-900 S
400 E 900-Williams Ave
Blair St 800-900 S
Denver St 900-Williams Ave

Thank you so much for your support, Jocelyn Todd, Salt Lake City Transportation Division

  • Hello! We currently have 23 signatures! Based on my estimates, we should only need 7 more to have the 25% requirement to submit the petition. I am working with the city to confirm this, and to be safe we are aiming for 40 signatures.
PLEASE talk to your neighbors and reshare the petition so we can get this moving!
Thank you for your support and comments. It is clear that this is a huge pain for many of us, and residential permits could really help us out.

Why people sign

I have an infant and toddler and all the things to carry. Being able to have a more guaranteed closer parking spot to home would make the walk from car to home and vice versa a safer, easier and more convenient travel.

There should be access to those who live in the area and need to park for safety near their homes. The parking situation was even further made difficult with the installation of the bike lane. There could have been an implementation of 45 degree parking and a bike lane. I have lived on this street for over a decade - and I can say less bicyclists use this bike lane because it's unsafe. You have to merge near 900 south and you are not visible to traffic - and the amount of people who do not realize where it's start.
This bike lane was without input of many of us neighbors and we're not even aware this model was approved back in 2015. Now we need actual neighborhood input and parking access while promoting the natural growth of the area is one that is needed/should continue to be of focus when developing in the area.

Extremely limited space. We have a toddler and parking farther adds to risk. We have RV's illegally parking. The blocked areas removed at least 6 parking spots. Parking enforcement keeps writing tickets for encroaching into blocked areas.

Even though I have a driveway, the parking is out of control for my guests and neighbors. People park in front of a fire hydrant in front of my house all the time.

Parking is horrible on our street.
