Petição dirigida a: ISF Board of Trustees

We, concerned members of the Islamic Society of Frederick (ISF), are calling for immediate corrective action to ensure the integrity of the upcoming ISF Board election.

Witnesses have observed serious irregularities in the handling of ballots, including sealed ballots being distributed and individuals being asked to write their names on the outside of envelopes without knowing the contents of the ballot inside. These actions raise significant concerns regarding voter anonymity, transparency, and proper oversight — core principles required for a fair election.

To restore confidence and protect the integrity of ISF governance, we formally request the following actions:

1. Postpone the upcoming ISF Board election for 30 days, during which corrective measures must be completed.
2. Appoint an independent election committee within this 30-day period, free from conflicts of interest, to oversee all aspects of the election process.
3. Require the current Board of Directors to step aside temporarily, as a necessary safeguard due to loss of community confidence, pending an independent review.
4. Authorize the independent election committee or the Board of Trustees to appoint an interim president, limited to caretaker responsibilities and maintaining day-to-day operations.
5. Conduct an independent review and audit of the current election process, and the broader election controls, procedures, and safeguards used by ISF.
6. Publicly share the findings of this review with the ISF community.
7. Publish clear, written election procedures prior to any rescheduled vote, including eligibility rules, voting methods, and oversight mechanisms.
8. Reopen a defined 15-day membership registration window, allowing eligible community members to register and participate fairly in the election.

These steps are necessary to ensure that any future election reflects the will of the community and adheres to ISF bylaws and established principles of fairness, transparency, anonymity, and accountability.
