청원서는 다음 주소로 보내집니다. Mayor of Royal Oak, Michigan
Amend burning and smoke pollution laws in the city of Royal Oak to limit non-essential burning in residential areas. Introduce policies to enforce clean burning and consider ‘excessive burning’ laws focusing on the amount and duration of burning.

A resident in Royal Oak has been burning things in a wood burning stove in their garage for years. Once in a while seems reasonable but it has been as many as 5 - 7 days per week in both short bursts and hours at a time. Most of the time it does not smell like clean firewood, but more like chemicals and dangerous smoke. I am told by police that he has a pile of wood nearby, thus there is nothing they can do about it with the current laws in place. I do not live on the same street that the burning is taking place and the smell is so strong that it stinks up my house with all windows and doors closed. I have a family and multiple houses nearby have younger children. I fear for the safety of our families and children.

I believe in being a good and considerate neighbor. I think it helps strengthen the fabric of a community or neighborhood. It sounds like reasonable attempts have been made to get this person to stop burning harsh materials, but this person isn’t considering others, especially their health.
I'd prefer not to be poisoned by toxic and noxious chemicals and odors. Safety and courtesy need to be considered, as it is impossible to limit the scope and impact of pollution from these burnings on surrounding citizens and wildlife.
I enjoy spending time outside and like to open my windows. I have three children who also like to be outside. The smell when our neighbor is burning things in his garage makes this difficult.

The smell comes in my house, I get a sore throat, my eyes burn, my nose burn. I was in the hospital last year and had respiratory failure, I don’t need this.
