Petition addressed to:
Clermont City Council
Clermont is a wonderful city where families can grow and where elite athletes can come and train. In my opinion, Clermont is currently suffering from an infestation of legal drug dealers who are pushing their deadly, addictive drugs on our friends and neighbors. There are currently 12 smoke shops in Clermont and 11 gas stations that sell deadly synthetic drugs like kratom to our friends and neighbors. Clermont currently has no ordinances to protect us from these predatory businesses. These businesses operate with essentially no oversight and are frequently associated with organized crime, illegal drug trafficking and money laundering. Our local government can act to put restrictions on these stores to protect our community.
Reason
'Kratom Free Clermont' is a public advocacy group created to help educate the public about the dangers of Kratom and to advocate for public policy changes. Kratom is being sold in vast quantities in Clermont and it is killing people. There is no safe known amount of kratom and kratom has been associated with over 500 deaths and counting.

Clermont is a family town and the sudden increase of dispensaries and smoke shops are not conducive to the long term health of our family community. My neighborhood is technically unincorporated even though I am I central Clermont, and there are several smoke shops and weed shops within 3-5 min of my home.
