Charlie Paparella has been hosting the "Travels With Charlie" on WBOC-TV for MANY years and it has become a household staple for many, many folks on the Delmarva Peninsula. Many people will be watching the evening news on WBOC and, while some are only half paying attention with it running in the background, when they hear that theme music from Charlie's show and will then stop, sit and listen to Charlie's soft and comforting voice and the videos he has created that cover all things familiar to us here on the 'Shore.
Razões
While we understand the need for WBOC to maintain its business through profitability, we think it's very short-sighted on their part to abruptly cancel a show like "Travels With Charlie" that has become iconic with the Eastern Shore way of life. Additionally, we feel it is somewhat callous of WBOC's parent organization, Draper Media, to end Charlie's contract suddenly, with seemingly little respect for all the years he gave to that organization.
