Petition addressed to: Chess SA
As concerned parents and players of the Nelson Mandela Bay Chess Union we are appealing to ChessSA to review their decision to suspend rating of all NMBCU chess tournaments. This affects the players and children without addressing the fiduciary concerns that are raised with the NMBCU.
We would therefore urge ChessSA as the governing body for all registered chess regions in the country to consider a better way to sanction the Executive Committee without it affecting the innocents (children and players).
Reason
The concerns are brought to ChessSAs consideration as suspension of rated tournaments impacts rating and GPX of players. This in effect means that the top players in the region may be denied opportunity such as converting their "elect titles" where rating is needed. As well as entry into National and International Closed events such as the SAJCCC and the AYCC, World Youth, World Cadets, chess Olympiad, African Amateur and African Junior chess championships.
The sanction imposed does not aimed to restore good governance by the standing EXCO, but rather as excluding the whole union from participating. It would be better to take up legal action against the EXBO for their breach of Fiduciary Duty by not supplying financial information as requested by ChessSA as the governing body of Chess in South Africa
