Hi everyone,
First off, thank you so much for supporting this initiative to create a safe pedestrian pathway from Stephenson Avenue to the Danforth GO Station (north platform). Your signatures and messages have been instrumental in getting the attention of key agencies and showing that our community truly cares about safer, more accessible transit connections.
Here’s where things stand:
* The proposed path area falls under a shared jurisdiction between the City of Toronto, HydroOne, and Metrolinx. Because of this, the process involves coordination between multiple agencies, which has slowed things down, but we’re making steady progress.
* I’m currently in contact with teams at Metrolinx, HydroOne, and several City of Toronto divisions, including the Transportation Services – Cycling & Pedestrian Projects team and Community Planning.
* The goal is to find the right city representatives who can review this proposal, complete the necessary paperwork, and bring the idea forward for technical and safety evaluation.
* We’re also emphasizing the need for multiple entry points to the GO Station, not just one, to improve safety, accessibility, and prevent congestion as our community grows and major construction begins for new tracks.
* Beyond convenience, this is about preventing accidents, improving accessibility, and preparing for population growth in our neighbourhood.
I’m also working with local media, including Beach Metro Community News, to help raise awareness and get more community members involved.
Next goal: Let’s reach 500 signatures to strengthen our voice when engaging City and Metrolinx officials. Please share this petition with neighbours, friends, and local groups, especially those who use Danforth GO or live near Stephenson, Main, or Danforth. openpetition.org/!rxldt
You can also make a big impact by sending a quick email to the following contacts to express your support for this pathway project and emphasize the importance of safer access to Danforth GO:

City Teams: newsidewalks@toronto.ca, visionzeroto@toronto.ca, 311@toronto.ca

Even a short note helps show that our community is united in wanting safer, smarter pedestrian infrastructure.
Thank you again for your continued support, every signature, share, and email brings us one step closer to making this pathway a reality.
Warm regards,
Dan Balcaban
