Mayor (Tfl)
Local residents are deeply affected by recent changes to our bus services and station. Bus 211, long known as our “hospital bus”, used to connect Pimlico and Victoria to five major hospitals (Chelsea & Westminster, Royal Brompton, Royal Marsden, St Thomas’ and Charing Cross) . Since TfL rerouted the 211 (now terminating at Battersea), many neighbours – especially older and disabled residents – have lost a direct link to medical care and everyday destinations. Meanwhile, bus 24 has become unreliable: it is supposed to run every 8 minutes through Pimlico, but locals routinely wait 20+ minutes . Journeys that were simple are now stressful and time-consuming.
Pimlico Station itself is outdated: it has no step-free access and was identified by the community as an area needing improvement and is facing repeated closures. Many seniors and families find the station’s stairs and facilities hard to use. Our petition calls on TfL and local officials to restore the 211’s old route via Pimlico & Victoria, ensure the 24’s timetable is reliable, and invest in Pimlico Station (e.g. adding lifts, better lighting and signage and end the repeated closures). These changes will reconnect Pimlico, ease hospital trips, and make travel safer for all.
In fact, a few years ago over 15,000 locals signed previous petitions and 85% opposed the 211 cut . We must act now to keep Pimlico moving.
Motivazioni:
- Cutting the 211 bus isolates patients and caretakers from Chelsea & Westminster and Royal Brompton hospitals . Signing tells decision-makers that our community cannot afford to lose this vital link.
- Crowded, unreliable buses and inaccessible Tube stops hurt disabled and older people . By signing, you stand with neighbours who need priority seating, wheelchair space or lifts – reminding TfL that transport must serve everyone, not leave people behind.
- The No. 24 bus is a lifeline for commuters and families. TravelWatch warns that downgrading it with smaller buses would be “not adequate” . Your name adds pressure for enough buses and on-time schedules so nobody is packed in or endlessly waiting.
- TfL and the Mayor pay attention when enough people speak up. Every signature is a message: “We won’t accept being left behind.” Please share this petition widely and sign now – the more signatures we gather, the stronger our call for fair, reliable transport.
My family need the local transport to keep running efficiently, these closers are affecting peoples daily lives and it’s unacceptable.
Pimlico is a well respected area and Westminster council are accountable for not doing their job properly/TFL/ the mayor ! people want results not petty excuses.
