This is the final push to communicate to the Grundy County IDB and commissioners that this chicken manure biodigester is not a good fit for Grundy County and Pelham. Please consider attending this decision-making meeting in support of our community. It will be at the Courthouse in Altamont 2nd floor court room at 6PM February 29. We are offering transportation if you need a ride just call or text 931-229-0355. Thankyou for your continued support!

The IDB board meeting that was scheduled for 4PM today regarding the Chicken Manure Biogas Plant decision has been cancelled due to road conditions. No reschedule date has been provided yet.
The Pelham community continues to gather signatures for the petition and we thank you for your support!

We will keep you up to date on a new meeting time should one be provided.

This is the post from Mayor Brady stating cancellation.

We are on a short deadline with 2 holidays between now and Jan. 11. Please share this petition with your contacts. We know it is Christmas and this is unpleasant, we don't want to be doing this either, but your voice and the voices of your neighbors matter. Thankyou all so much for your support. It is our hope that our county officials will represent the people that elected them over special interest groups. We wish you a blessed and Happy Christmas and New Year and pray for each one of you to be healthy and prosperous in 2024. If you want a yard sign, they will be ready Saturday 12/23. Simply request one on the FB page and arrange pickup. 20 signs have been donated by a generous supporter.

New petition description:

Biogas is a false solution to the poultry industry's "manure"manure and slaughterhouse sludge problem. Methane from the litter and slaughterhouse offal is digested with bacteria, captured, and piped through the natural gas pipeline. This is a "greenwash"greenwash as a viable alternative energy solution being backed by Biden's huge Green Energy Initiative. It is neither a clean nor green process, especially for residents of the small town of Pelham, TN which has been hand-picked for this offensive industry. Biodigesters are linked to air pollution, pollution in the form of nitrate and phosphate intrusion into water, and soil, and pathogens that can negatively affect animal and human health. It creates a dangerous environment by being located only yards from our homes, school, churches, and businesses and creating an explosive product with the potential for leaks in a town with a tiny volunteer fire department and insufficient water pressure to mitigate firefire. Pelham andalso suffers from long emergency response wait times. The poultry industry is the only true winner in this proposal as it profits off of its factory farm model at the expense of Pelham resident's health, quality of life, and loss of property values. If you are against having this industry in the center of Pelham, TN please sign this petition.
