A truck stop will ruin the historic site of El Rancho, where President Eisenhower himself always stopped when in our area (he started the Interstate Highway system) and loved coming through here. The restaurant has always been a cozy, neighborhoody place to go where we often ran into someone we knew - always important in the Golden-Evergreen foothills where residents are living so far apart. Moreover, the light pollution from a truck stop will be terrible. We try so hard to keep light pollution to a minimum so the wildlife can have their night to roam in and the birds can migrate without the life-threatening disruption of their needed dark night. There is already plenty of disruptive light coming from across the road. Do we have to expand that?! The constant 24/7 noise of cars and diesel trucks will also disrupt the night (and day). It's just not an appropriate site for a truck stop. It will ruin the community feel we have here. We are on the edge of the suburban-wildlife habitat. A truck stop at El Rancho will ruin the historical backdrop for those of us living here and for those traveling through, and will forever change the historic and wild feel of the area for people and wildlife and bird life.
