I have been going to el rancho for all my life, and my dad and uncles have worked there when they were teens.
Save a historical building. We don’t need a truck stop at this location
The scope and intent of the project does not align with the communities around it
I was born on Lookout Mountain and have witnessed the entire El Rancho/TeePee wilderness be transformed into commercial real estate and worse. The Observatory and connected Wine & Spirits Store was an icon in the 70s, owned by a prominent local family. El Rancho still stands, rooted in local history and lore. Let's preserve both NATURE and HISTORIC PLACES!
I love Evergreen and this is by no means a beautiful addition to our area. In fact, it's an abomination. Also, we don't need it. We have all those services already available. This is just corporate greed
We travel the narrow 2 lane road by El Rancho nearly every day heading to Evergreen. It will be nearly impossible, if not totally impossible to navigate this stretch of road with semi’s and congestion that is sure to come with this type of business. Not to mention how horrible it will be to not see El Rancho historic building. Do not destroy our history! Period.
While a truck stop in the area would be objectionable in itself, the fact that its replacing a beautiful, historic building make it even more painful. It would be a complete 180 from a treasured historic icon to a bright, loud facility that is out of character with the surrounding area. Assuming it will be open and lit 24/7, It will also negatively impact all surrounding residents.
We don’t want a truck stop in Evergreen.
There is a large truck stop just a few miles away. This location lacks the requisite infrastructure.
Prevent: more light and noise pollution, further congested intersection especially on the east bound on ramp to I-70 - potentially delaying police, fire and ambulance response times to reach emergencies, and concentrated fuel fume pollution from many idling semi-trucks - gas and diesel, We just don’t need it!
The historic quality of the area is represented in beautiful old structures like El Rancho, and has already been damaged by the development of WalMart nearby. Also the community doesn't need this kind of traffic or brightly lit facility in an area used by elk and other wildlife.
An increase in truck traffic will be awful
First, the El Rancho building is in my view a historical landmark along I-70.
Second, building a truck stop on this corner will congest this area with more vehicles and big rig traffic. The increased traffic will create congestion and more opportunities for accidents.
El Rancho is a historic site
El Rancho is legendary, please don’t destroy it!
Want to keep small mountain community feel, avoid congestion and minimize traffic
The El Rancho corner of Evergreen is a historical and incredible place and staple of Evergreen’s culture. Our community does not need another gas station.
Not in support of tearing down or moving a historic building to replace it with a large gas station/truck stop that would make more sense to be located down the hill in Golden. The excessive noise and lights will detract from the mountain and natural experience of Evergreen.
I worked at el rancho. I grew up in evergreen. It is history. We don’t need another gas station.
El Rancho is a historic building and an icon for Evergreen
I live in the vicinity of this development. I am concerned about the destruction to the existing landscape, increase of trucks, noise, light and pollution. Additionally, am concerned about possible increase in crime.
I live an exit away. Keep evergreen for the community not for passers through
A truck stop will ruin the historic site of El Rancho, where President Eisenhower himself always stopped when in our area (he started the Interstate Highway system) and loved coming through here. The restaurant has always been a cozy, neighborhoody place to go where we often ran into someone we knew - always important in the Golden-Evergreen foothills where residents are living so far apart. Moreover, the light pollution from a truck stop will be terrible. We try so hard to keep light pollution to a minimum so the wildlife can have their night to roam in and the birds can migrate without the life-threatening disruption of their needed dark night. There is already plenty of disruptive light coming from across the road. Do we have to expand that?! The constant 24/7 noise of cars and diesel trucks will also disrupt the night (and day). It's just not an appropriate site for a truck stop. It will ruin the community feel we have here. We are on the edge of the suburban-wildlife habitat. A truck stop at El Rancho will ruin the historical backdrop for those of us living here and for those traveling through, and will forever change the historic and wild feel of the area for people and wildlife and bird life.
Doesn't fit the character of the area
Will create far more traffic at an already very congested intersection
It will make it more difficult and time consuming to reach Evergreen retailers.
The truck stop should be placed closer to the intersection of I70 for easy on/off for truckers. This site is a good distance from the entrance ramp going west and from the exit ramp going east.
Evergreen is growing to fast.
Big gas station brings unwanted attention and attracts additional business that are destructive to small town community like Evergreen.
El Rancho is a historic building and should be left alone where it is!! It’s also a landmark of locals and visitors. We don’t need another gas station or convenience store in that area. Already a Walmart and gas station across the street.
Environmental and traffic impact. Idling trucks all night will destroy that area.
I live on Rainbow Hill and would be disheartened to Have to drive by an unnecessary gas station we’re a beautiful building should stand.
This is a bad location for semis to get on/off the highway. It would be detrimental to Bergen Park, Evergreen and the entire area. Please do not destroy the 50+ year old El Rancho building! It is a legacy and the entire area needs to be preserved.
Too much development for a small mountain town! Keep our quiet towns quiet!
