The current policy in Monroe County, Georgia, prohibits the use of recreational vehicles (RVs) as permanent residences. This policy has far-reaching implications for residents who find RVs an affordable and flexible housing option. The decision-making power regarding this issue currently rests solely with the County Commissioners. However, we believe that it is the residents of Monroe County, the people most affected by this policy, who should have a say in this matter.

Therefore, we are advocating for a referendum on this policy. A referendum is a direct vote in which an entire electorate is invited to vote on a particular proposal. This process would allow every resident of Monroe County to voice their opinion and vote on whether RVs should be permitted as permanent residences.
