To Continually Move Sand appropriately

Reason

To Whom It May Concern,

We, the undersigned homeowners of Strand Way and members of the Strand Way community, located in Oceano, California, 93445, urgently bring to your attention a critical issue that has been neglected for an extended period. Our community is facing a significant problem due to the accumulation of sand on the west side of Strand Way, which has resulted in the formation of a large sands "mountain" in front of our homes and the right of ways. This situation has not only restricted the entire community's ability to access the beach, but has also created a severe safety hazard that cannot be overlooked.

The continuous disregard for proper and regular maintenance of this area has exacerbated the problem, compromising the safety and well-being of all residents living on Strand Way and the surrounding streets. The situation has now reached a critical point where immediate action is necessary to prevent any potential (additional) accidents or harm to our community members and properties.

Proposed Resolution: We propose that the accumulated sand be evenly distributed from the property lines of all homes on the west side of Strand Way to the water's edge. The county right of ways should also be flattened to allow access (in very specific areas/locations). This action will not only alleviate the continued safety concerns, but will also restore the natural beauty and accessibility of our community.

Addition to Proposed Resolution: Furthermore, we strongly assert that the financial responsibility for this sand flattening initiative should fall upon the county and state officials. The severe lack of regular maintenance that has led to this predicament is a direct result of the failure of state and county officials to uphold their contractual obligations for proper maintenance. It is only fair that the remediation of this issue, caused by their negligence, should not impose a financial burden on the homeowners.

We trust that you will understand the urgency and gravity of this situation and will take immediate action to resolve this issue in a manner that ensures the safety and well-being of our community, without imposing undue financial strain on the residents.

Sincerely,

Oceano Beach Residents Association (OBRA)

Why people sign

Our view from the beach house is blocked by the dunes. We need our beautiful view of ocean being restored.
Its very hard to have access to the ocean because of large amount of sand build up over the years .

We cannot enjoy our property or beach with the abandonment of sand "grooming". Beach access is impossible for us and views are totally destroyed. We pay a lot in property taxes to enjoy the sand, beach and views and yet, these have been taken away with the dereliction of sand maintenance. Very unfair, especially since all adjacent beaches have regular sand "grooming".
