We, the undersigned parents, students, and community members, are writing to express our strong support for Bus Driver Bob Rycroft, who has served our schools and families with dedication, kindness, and professionalism for more than 12 years.

Bob is being unfairly penalized for an accident that was not his fault yet was carried as a mark on his record. The incident occurred at our bus stop, and my husband witnessed it firsthand — Bob was completely stopped when another driver, who was distracted, rear-ended the bus. Bob did everything right. He ensured the safety of every child on board and was struck only because another driver failed to pay attention.

To lose Bob over an incident in which he was clearly not at fault is not only unjust to him, but also a great loss to the students and families he serves.

Bob has been far more than just a bus driver — he has been a mentor, supporter, and friend to countless Region 12 students. He takes the time to know every child and parent personally. He cheers for our athletes, drives teams to events with pride, and often attends games and activities even when he’s off duty. He treats every student as if they were his own and takes genuine pride in keeping them safe every day.

Bob has rarely missed a day of work. His reliability, compassion, and positive presence have made him an irreplaceable part of our community.

We are heartbroken that he is no longer driving Bus #8, and we respectfully ask the transportation company and school district to review this situation immediately and reinstate Bob to his position.
