Petition is addressed to: Jupiter Inlet District

The goal of this signature drive is a safe, navigable and dependable inlet created by dredging the Inlet access to 12' and adding channel markers.

This signature drive is intended to show the Jupiter Inlet District Board that this is a PRIORITY and IMPORTANT to their constituents.

Reason

The Jupiter Inlet is a vital waterway for our community, but inadequate dredging and no marked channels create dangerous conditions for boaters. It's time for the Jupiter Inlet District to act.

Thank you for your support, Christopher Ball, Tequesta

News

  • Good Morning,

Thank you for supporting our effort to make Jupiter Inlet access safe and navigable! We've gathered 66 signatures in just a few days—a strong start. To build momentum, please help us reach 500 by the November 12 board meeting. Share the petition link with fellow boaters, fishing groups, or on social media: https://www.openpetition.org/!pkzwg

Last Wednesday's district board meeting was encouraging. Though dredging and marking the inlet access wasn't on the agenda, each board member had received our petition. They asked Jay Carpenter to summarize our concerns and goals.

After lengthy discussion, two members now clearly support our objectives, while the others are open and requesting more details. This marks real progress: Previously, only one supported it, one opposed (absent this meeting), and three were neutral. As a result of your support, the attending members voted 4-0 to authorize the District Engineer to provide to the Board by the November Meeting an outline of the major items that will need to be studied and solutions developed to ultimately get to the goal of a Dependable Marked Inlet Approach. This outline was intended to be very broad to identify the “Major Elements” of the process.

Your involvement is already driving change! Let's push to 500 signatures to show the board and stakeholders (like the Army Corp of Engineers that have Veto power) that the community requests action for a safer, more dependable inlet.

Not yet a PRO argument.

The inlet already gets dredged routinely and routinely fills back up with metric tons of sand. It is a never ending practice fighting nature. I don’t understand the purpose of this petition when the inlet already gets dredged.

Why people sign

I own a 64 Jarrett Bay, and keep it in Jupiter, the last 4 trips we took we had to come in to WPB because the inlet was so bad, too pretty of an inlet not have to use on the tides
