Petition addressed to: Ministry on Education, Supreme Court, CBSE board

The recent implementation of the CBSE three-language policy for Classes 9 and 10 places an unfair and sudden burden on students who have already been pursuing foreign languages (other than English) as their second or third language. Many students have invested years learning languages such as French, German, Japanese, or Spanish as part of a well-planned academic pathway. Forcing them to transition to an entirely new language at this stage creates significant academic stress, disrupts continuity in learning, Particularly with board exams coming up next year

Reason

This petition is important because it represents the voices of students, parents, and educators who are deeply concerned about the unintended impact of the new three-language policy on children already studying foreign languages. At a stage where students are preparing for critical board examinations and future career pathways, introducing a compulsory shift in language learning can cause unnecessary academic pressure, emotional stress, and disruption to years of prior effort. The petition seeks a balanced and student-centric approach that allows continuity for existing learners, respects diverse educational choices, and ensures that policy implementation does not disadvantage students who have responsibly planned their academic journey under the earlier system.

Thank you so much for your support, Sathya Ramadas, Bangalore

Why people sign

We are here to study and study must be of what is of importance. Where are we going to use language like sanskrit anyway. I hear that they want to conserve the culture but it doesn't mean they have to add more pressure on students. It must be optional. Atleast teach something useful like about taxes or human health. But why the hell third language
We are already pressureised enough
We can't take more
Half of the stuff is already useless and now you are adding more useless stuff?
Why CBSE?
Like literally you give books so late and now you want to add another third language mid session
We are humans
And if you really respected such things, why isn't there any such things like writing and all.
I'm a writer and I've seen it
No support for art and which should be there instead of those languages you are adding
So, how do you even support we'll react huh?
Please, don't do this

In Future this will never happen to any of the students

The three language policy brings stress amoung the students. It is used as a backdoor to impose Hindi and Sanskrit.

Students are suffering with the amount of work they have already in CBSE curriculum, all these studies are leading for more students to fall into the corrupted system , hence atleast they should teach languages that can be globally used than hindi or let the students choose the language.

The 3rd language addition in 9th and 10th grade results in additional burden on students. The legacy scheme of 2 languages works well. There is hardly any benefit from adding the 3rd language. In my son's case, until the 8th grade, he studied French as 3rd language. We changed his school for 9th grade. The new school does not offer French. Now, adding a new 3rd language different from what he studied before will cause unwanted burden. Unless the Government can equip all the CBSE schools to teach any language so as to continue the 3rd language the student studied until 8th grade, such changes should not be approved.
